After a year and a halfish of calling Portland, OR my new home, I am now finally connecting with the vibrant music scene here. In an effort to spread the word on some of these exciting artists of the greater Northwest, I am going to be posting a new series of interviews focusing on their work.
I am thrilled to kick off these regionally-focused features with an interview with Jenn Rawling & Basho Parks, otherwise known as Jenn & Basho. The duo's third and recently released album, Tarantula Arms has been attracting a lot of national attention their way, and rightfully so. The two have clocked thousands upon thousands of miles on the speedometer- both to explore the country as well as to make art and perform their songs.

Although not quite household names (yet!) and often referred to as "musician's musicians", Cahalen Morrison and Eli West have returned with their magnificent, third full length album called I'll Swing My Hammer With Both Hands, which is sure to be making quite an impression. The duo have been making quite a name for themselves over the years, playing every kind of venue including small intimate clubs, opening up for some of roots music's biggest artists, as well as appearing at well-respected festivals.

Ever since I picked up a copy of Doug Paisley's Constant Companion, it has been one of my favorite albums and one of the most played in our home. As someone who has anxiously awaited for new recordings by the artist ever since that release, I have equally enjoyed his Golden Embers EP (which features a number of guests, including Feist), anticipating the next full length. Well the wait is over, Doug Paisely has returned with Strong Feelings, his third release overall for No Quarter.
